What is Neuropathy?

In simple terms, neuropathy is damage to the nerves outside the brain and spinal cord, therefore called peripheral neuropathy. This damage may be associated with Diabetes, Cholesterol drugs, metabolic problems or traumatic injuries to the nerves. Many people develop neuropathy as a side effect of medications given for a different medical problem.

Also, it is not uncommon for people who are diabetic to experience some form of neuropathy. The latest research indicates that as many as 30 million Americans experience some form of neuropathy. The human body has an enormous communication system that transfers information from the brain and spinal cord to all parts of the body by the nerves. Peripheral nerves send messages back and forth and any damage to the peripheral nervous system will disrupt and interrupt communication can cause Here are examples of areas where we have been able to help others:

Diabetes Is Bad! Diabetic Neuropathy Makes How You Feel Even Worse!

The most common metabolic cause of neuropathy that we see in our office is neuropathy coming from diabetes. The problem is growing steadily worse as this very concerning and prevalent disease affects more and more people at an earlier age – and as people live longer. Nearly 60% of all people with diabetes develop diabetic neuropathy.

As if the pain, numbness, swelling, burning, tingling, sleepless nights, balance issues, along with all the other symptoms that go along with neuropathy aren’t bad enough, approximately 86,000 Americans each year undergo diabetic amputations as a result of uncontrolled neuropathy. This new treatment is capable of preventing many of those amputations, especially if they can be caught early on.
